2012 Playoff Schedules & Results

The 2012 playoff schedules and times are now posted - see schedules on left.

Playoff Format

PRELIMINARY ROUND GAMES:

* In round robin portion, each team plays 3 games
* Games are continuous 25 minutes of play, SCHEDULED EVERY HALF HOUR
* Preliminary games will start at scheduled times.
* No half time
* Unlimited change on the fly or at stoppage in play (except for goalies - see below)

Team placement for the playoffs is based on the regular season standings with a tie in standings broken as follows:
1. Result between the two teams
2. Goals for
3. Goals against
4. Coin toss (the first Monday following the finish of the regular season at the SPIPLEX. Affected coaches will be notified.)

SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL GAMES:

* 2x15 minute halves
* 3 minute half time
* Semi-final and Final games may start early but must start within 5 minutes of the scheduled time.

* Time allowed for penalty kicks, if needed in the event of a tie
* A player may only play goalie for half of the game (see below)

PLAYOFF GAME STANDINGS FOR PRELIMINARY ROUNDS:

To be determined as follows:
* win = 6 points
* tie = 3 points
* loss = 0 points
* shutout = 1 point
* goal = 1 point (to a maximum of 3 points)

The total number of points achievable during a game is 10 points.

This system is designed to discourage high score differentials that occur in attempts to gain a wide margin in the event of a tie.

- Both coaches are to record their game score and points together, after their game. If there is a disagreement, confirm with the referee as they have the final decision.

- Note - Any forfeit will be recorded as a 3-0 win, with 10 points going to the winner.

- Ties will stand in all preliminary round games

- Ties during a championship game (semi or final) will be broken by penalty kicks.

- In the event of ties in the preliminary game standings, the following tie breakers will be used:

1. Result between the two teams
2. Fewest goals against
3. Penalty kicks (immediately after the final preliminary game)
4. If teams are not present for a shoot-out, a coin toss between the two coaches.

GOALIE RULES

a) Goalies may NOT be substituted during preliminary games
b) The same goalie may play all three preliminary games
c) For final and semi-final games, goalies may NOT not be substituted during the game (except for unusual circumstances such as injury)
d) For final and semi-final games, goalies must be changed at half time
e) For game deciding penalty kicks, any eligible player may change places with the goalkeeper at any time when kicks from the penalty mark are being taken.

GAME DECIDING SHOOT-OUT PENALTY KICKS

a) For semi-final and final game shoot-out penalty kicks, all dressed players (excluding any players who were dismissed) shall be "eligible players" to take part in the "Taking of Kicks from the Penalty Mark".

b) For penalty kicks, the ball is placed 6 m from the goal line on the small field or on the penalty kick mark for the large field.

c) Remember (from above), for shoot-out penalty kicks, any eligible player may change places with the goalkeeper at any time when kicks from the penalty mark are being taken.

COACHES: PLEASE REMEMBER TO OBSERVE THE FAIR PLAY RULE!!!
