For coaches who are residents of Emily Township, the Peterborough OPP will provide Police Record Checks for 2011.

Volunteer Screening Process for Coaches and Assistant Coaches

The following is the PYISC Volunteer Screening Policy. All potential coaches and assistant coaches are asked to first read the policy.

Please note that as of the 2007/08 season, Police Record Checks are required every three years.
Original Police Record Checks obtained for other volunteer organizations - ie. school, other sports etc. which have been obtained within this time frame will be accepted as well.

If necessary, to obtain your Police Record Check, complete the PYISC Volunteer form (see link at left) and present to the Police Department.

If you are a resident of the City of Peterborough, you will need to go the police station on Water Street. There should be no charge to you when obtaining the record check at Peterborough Police station. The Club has made arrangements for payment with the police. However, please be prepared to pay the cost of $6.00 which the Club will reimburse. Please request a receipt if you do need to pay.

Residents outside of the city will have to go to the OPP or residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes will have to obtain their police record check at the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Department. There is no charge at the Peterborough OPP and the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP. If asked to pay, please request a receipt and the Club will reimburse you.

Hours of Operation:

City of Peterborough: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 1:30pm on Friday except holidays.

OPP Peterborough County: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

You will be required to show two pieces of identification one of which must be photo identification. Acceptable photo ID is a driver's licence or photo health card. The other piece of identification can be a birth certificate.

Finally, for the coaches meeting, along with your Police Record Check, please have the coaches' registration form (see link) filled in and signed as well as the Police Record Check Verification form.

At the Coaches' meeting, after presentation of the police record check to a PYISC representative, the police record check is returned to the coach. The Club keeps the Police Record Check Verification Form.
